YOUNG AFRICAN VISIONARIES FORUM  
MAY 11, 2011 BROOKLYN, NY




The Young African Visionaries Forum “Envision Tomorrow Today; A Discussion About Africa’s Youth Through Music” featuring a special listening party with the artist M3NSA will be held on May 11, 2011 at the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) 20 Jay Street, Suite 740 from 6:30pm-8:30pm.  The forum will include a panel discussion, catered reception by Joloff Restaurant, short film screening, and a special listening party with M3NSA.  The Young African Visionaries Forum is apart of the Young African Visionaries Project; a three part media project developed by filmmaker Rebekah A. Frimpong in collaboration with Obaasema Magazine, PlanIt Brooklyn, and MixerPot.  The project features Young African Visionaries Obaasema Magazine profiles highlighting the work of 20 young African visionaries, the Young African Visionaries Forum and special listening party with the artist M3NSA, and the documentary film Young African Visionaries Envision Tomorrow Today.


The Young African Visionaries Forum “Envision Tomorrow Today; A Discussion About Africa’s Youth Through Music” will have a panel discussion with African musicians and media executives sharing their views on Africa’s youth and music.  The panel will include guests Ngozi Odita of Society HAE (Nigeria), Cassi Amanda Gibson blogger/photographer (Mozambique and Uganda), Masauko Chipembere award winning musician of the duo Blk Sonshine (Malawi and South Africa), Emmanuel Gamor of Sunlight Radio (Ghana), Benita Bortey of Akwaaba Media and 5Ave Entertainment & Media (Ghana), and Kalab Berhane of Africology (Ethiopia).  The forum will end with a special listening party and performance by M3NSA.  M3NSA will perform songs from his new album No. 1 Mango Street  that features his hit single “No One Knows”.  The album is a blend of Hip-hop, Afro-beat, soul, and Highlife music.
